Someone once told me -- and now I tell others, from time to time: It's very likely that others know you better than you know yourself.

That lightning flash of intuition we call "first impression" can illuminate a new friend with more clarity than they've ever seen themselves.

I really felt this. The whole piece is next level. I admire you. Also, a few years ago I started asking people earnestly what my blind spots are, especially during an argument (people are more likely to be honest). Among the responses there was a common thread, and it shocked me. It's unsettling how an aspect of your personality can be this entity always felt by others, and you have no fucking idea. What's even more unsettling is how hard it is to change an aspect you can't really see or understand. How even when you try, the effect stays the same, as if unconscious behavior can't be changed consciously.
